BURN Manufacturing Clean Cookstoves

BURN Manufacturing operates a solar-powered factory in Nairobi, Kenya that designs and mass-produces the Jikokoa charcoal cookstove and other clean cooking products. Independent testing by the Berkeley Air Monitoring Group found the Jikokoa uses significantly less charcoal than the traditional Kenyan ceramic jiko, reducing both household fuel spending and indoor smoke exposure. As of October 2022, BURN reported having sold over 2.1 million cookstoves and prevented roughly 11 million tonnes of CO2 emissions, with manufacturing capacity of 3 million stoves per year.
