The Clean Air Institute is a nonprofit based in Washington, DC that works with national and city governments across Latin America and the Caribbean to design air-quality monitoring systems, fuel and vehicle-emissions standards, and clean-air policy. Its regional assessments have identified cities such as Mexico City, Santiago, BogotΓ‘, and Lima among the most polluted in Latin America, where air pollution regularly exceeds World Health Organization guidelines. The Institute's data and technical assistance have informed clean-air action plans adopted by multiple national and municipal governments in the region.
