Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund — Daily Protection for Mountain Gorillas

Founded on Dian Fossey's pioneering work in Rwanda's Volcanoes National Park, the Gorilla Fund provides daily boots-on-the-ground protection and scientific monitoring for mountain gorillas, plus conservation of Grauer's gorillas in the DRC. Thanks in part to this 'extreme conservation' model, mountain gorillas are the only great ape whose numbers are increasing, now around 1,063 individuals. Its Ellen DeGeneres Campus near the park trains scientists and engages surrounding communities.
