Drinkwell: Filtering Arsenic Out of Bangladesh's Drinking Water

Founded in 2013 by Minhaj Chowdhury, Drinkwell tackles Bangladesh's arsenic-contaminated groundwater crisis with a network of community water kiosks built on patented HIX-Nano filtration resins that strip out arsenic, fluoride, and iron. The company has installed over 300 kiosks in Bangladesh, with additional sites in India, and partners with municipal water authorities such as Dhaka WASA and Khulna WASA to expand mobile-money-enabled water ATMs. Reported health outcomes include reduced rates of dysentery, cholera, and hepatitis A among users.
