FoodCloud: Turning Surplus Food into Meals

FoodCloud is an Irish social enterprise, founded in 2013, that built a technology platform connecting supermarkets and food businesses with surplus stock to local charities and community groups. Retailers log unsold but edible food, and partner charities collect it for free, cutting both food waste and food poverty. The model has expanded from Ireland into other countries, and in 2024 alone the organisation redistributed food worth 15 million euro to 685 Irish charities.
