Grameen Shakti

Founded in 1996 as a not-for-profit under the Grameen Bank family, Grameen Shakti brings renewable energy to off-grid rural Bangladesh through affordable Solar Home Systems, improved cookstoves, and biogas plants. Its microfinance-backed model made it one of the world's most successful rural solar programs. Grameen Shakti has installed more than 1.8 million Solar Home Systems, benefiting millions of rural people.
