Kheyti, founded in 2015 in Telangana, India, developed a compact, low-cost greenhouse bundled with seeds, training and market linkages for smallholder farmers, priced roughly 90% below a standard greenhouse. The greenhouses use about 98% less water than open-field farming and have been shown to produce roughly seven times the yield on the same land. By 2023, about 1,000 farms had installed a Kheyti greenhouse, saving a reported 2.5 million tonnes of water that year; Kheyti was named a 2022 Earthshot Prize winner.
