Mahila Housing Trust AQI Ambassadors

Mahila Housing SEWA Trust (MHT), founded in 1994, organizes women in India's informal economy to improve their housing, health, and climate resilience. In Delhi, MHT trained more than 75 women construction workers as 'AQI Ambassadors,' teaching them to use portable air quality monitors and report hazardous pollution at their worksites and settlements. A related survey of 400 women workers found 75% reported feeling sick during poor air quality, and the campaign drove over 1,700 downloads of Delhi's official pollution-reporting app.
