PASD: Karen Community Land Stewardship in Northern Thailand

Founded in 2009 by Karen community leaders, NGOs, and academics, PASD coordinates traditional natural-resource management, sustainable agriculture, and rights advocacy across 7 official Karen communities (25 clusters) in Mae Suk Sub-district, Mae Chaem District, Chiang Mai Province. The association works to secure recognition of Karen rotational farming and customary land governance as legitimate, sustainable stewardship rather than illegal encroachment.
