Vancouver-based Plastic Bank builds ethical recycling ecosystems in coastal communities across countries including the Philippines, Indonesia, Brazil, and Egypt. Collectors exchange gathered plastic for income, bonuses, and social benefits, while the material is recycled into 'Social Plastic' feedstock for brands. Plastic Bank and its communities have stopped roughly 80 million kilograms of plastic—the equivalent of over 4 billion bottles—from reaching the ocean.
