Predator Free 2050 is New Zealand's audacious goal of removing introduced predators — rats, stoats, and possums, with feral cats added to the target list in 2025 — from the entire country to save its unique native wildlife. A network of government agencies, iwi, community trusts, and tens of thousands of backyard trappers drives the effort, with large landscape projects from Waiheke Island to Akaroa. Predators have already been eradicated from two-thirds of the country's offshore islands.
