Ripple Effect, known as Send a Cow until its 2023 rebrand, began in 1988 when UK dairy farmers sent cattle to help Ugandan communities recover from civil war. Today the charity works across Burundi, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda and Zambia, training families in sustainable agriculture, livestock care, agroforestry and gender-inclusive enterprise development. In its July 2024-June 2025 reporting year, Ripple Effect reached 1.1 million people, with participating households reporting 69% food security and roughly doubled daily income.
