Save the Elephants

Founded in 1993 by Iain Douglas-Hamilton, Save the Elephants is a research and conservation organization headquartered in Nairobi with its main research station in Kenya's Samburu National Reserve. It pioneered GPS and radio collar tracking of elephants and uses the data to fight poaching, reduce human-elephant conflict, and plan landscapes around elephant movements. The Samburu elephants are now one of the best-studied populations in the world, with detailed histories of nearly 1,000 individuals.
