Soils, Food and Healthy Communities (SFHC) began in 2000 in Ekwendeni, northern Malawi, with 30 farmers testing legume intensification and composting techniques. Now a registered Malawian nonprofit run and led by Malawian farmers, SFHC supports roughly 6,000 smallholder households across more than 200 villages in Northern and Central Malawi. The organization pairs farmer-to-farmer knowledge exchange with peer-reviewed participatory research on child nutrition, soil fertility, indigenous crop revival and gender equity.
