Som Energia: Spain's Renewable Energy Cooperative

Som Energia is a not-for-profit renewable energy cooperative founded in Girona, Catalonia in 2010, created so households and small businesses could buy and co-own clean power instead of relying on Spain's dominant utilities. Members are supplied electricity certified as 100% renewable and can invest directly in the cooperative's own solar, wind and small hydro generation projects. It has grown from 150 founding members into one of Spain's largest energy cooperatives.
