The Cookstove Project Nepal

The Cookstove Project, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2013, works with rural communities in Nepal and Uganda to build locally-sourced, fuel-efficient cookstoves. In Nepal, the organization trains local women as 'social mobilizers' who coordinate community stove-building and teach households to maintain their chimneys, and it delivered simplified rocket stoves to families displaced by the 2015 earthquake. Households contribute roughly $4 or materials toward each stove and the organization reports about a 50% reduction in household fuel costs.
