Entrepreneur Shahzad Qureshi founded Urban Forest after a 2015 heatwave killed more than 2,000 people in Karachi. Using the Miyawaki dense-planting method, he transformed a barren park in Clifton into a three-acre native forest of 38,000 saplings, complete with ponds and returning birdlife. His team has since created a string of 'tiny forests' across Karachi and Lahore as natural air conditioners for heat-stressed cities.
