Wecyclers — Cash for Trash in Lagos

Founded in 2012 by Bilikiss Adebiyi-Abiola, Wecyclers sends fleets of cargo bikes and trucks door-to-door in Lagos's low-income neighborhoods, weighing households' plastic, cans, and sachets and crediting them redeemable points per kilogram. The model creates local jobs while tackling the megacity's chronic waste problem and feeding material back into recycling supply chains. Partnerships with Unilever and the UK government aim to scale collections by tens of thousands of tonnes.
